FIGMENT is a free, inclusive, participatory arts event held in multiple cities and drawing tens of thousands of participants each year. FIGMENT's mission is to offer free, family-friendly and participatory art to entire communities.
FIGMENT Project
FIGMENT's mission is to offer free, family-friendly and participatory art to entire communities. The event removes the barriers of museum and gallery walls and entrance fees, blurring the lines between those who create and those who enjoy art. FIGMENT is a forum for the creation and display of participatory and interactive art by emerging artists across disciplines. FIGMENT began in July 2007 as a free, one-day participatory arts event on Governors Island in New York Harbor with over 2,600 participants. Since then, FIGMENT has grown significantly each year in number of projects, duration, participants, volunteers, fundraising capability, exhibitions, locations, overall level of commitment and participation, and public support.

Dear FIGMENT Community,We have watched over the last several months as our society has been shaken, first by a deadly virus, then by extreme economic hardship, and then by the murder of George Floyd and nationwide protest against systemic racism and oppression.As an organization that is based in inclusion and equality, we are encouraged by the heated debate and spirit of change that are raging in our society. Our gratitude goes out to those who have been active in the protests and to the artists who have poured their outrage into creative expression against injustice...
